The idea of the Mediterranean Taste Awards is based upon a simple and clear vision, which is to discover passionate producers who create excellent in taste food and beverage brands and via a transparent evaluation process to present them unbiased to the global food community.

The Assessment Model

The evaluation process that we follow in based on a Hybrid structure which essentially means that all the food and beverages samples are evaluated both in-house to our premises as well as remotely by our chefs and other members of our professional tasting team.

Preparation & Presentation Method

The food and beverage samples will be presented to the judges for blind tasting unbranded

Judging Process & Scoring Method

  • In order to ensure that the evaluation methodology of the food and beverage samples is credible, transparent and unbiased, we have introduced a sensory  evaluation. The Sensory evaluation was one of the earliest methods of quality control and it is still widely used in the industry.
  • A scientific discipline used to evoke, measure, analyse and interpret reactions to those characteristics of foods and materials as they are perceived by the senses of sight, smell, taste, touch and hearing.
  • The food products are presented to the judges for blind tasting unbranded

  • We store and prepare the olive oil samples according meeting the heist hygiene standards depending of the nature of the food product

  • We have introduced two more different levels of blind assessment, apart from the regular tasting. Cross tasting of samples in a second group of judges and repetition of the same sample from the same group of judges that performed the first tasting

  • The Juries have zero prior knowledge of the product’s brand name and/or other sensitive information and the scoring method is been made securely using our online proprietary rating platform where each jury send its own score for each assessed product

      • Participants should be registered for the competition by March 31, 2023. 
      • Registrations will not be accepted after the deadline has been reached.
  • After the registration & the payment are completed, we will send the relevant documents, shipping details, and invoices.  

    Having first completed the registration and payment, then our team will provide the relevant documents and the Shipping Label Form.

    All the product samples must be sent by March 31, 2023

    In case that the food & beverage products  sample has not been sent on time the product will be eligible for judging

  • For each competition category, you must submit two (2) samples of each product. The samples must be submitted on the exact same retail packagingPlease note that for the sensory analysis, the food & beverage samples are blind-tasted by the judges.

  • The participants must ensure that all the food & beverage samples will be send in safe and suitable packaging. In case of a damaged item, the participant must resend the samples strictly within the deadlines.

  • The competition will be held simultaneously in London and Berlin on April 2023 with the participation of chefs and food specialists from London, Berlin, and parts of the world where we feel they fit with the Mediterranean Taste Awards concept.

    Please note that in case of amendments on the scheduled dates of the competition they will be communicated to the participants directly via an email

  • What is the fee for registering for the competition? 

    The entry fees to the competition are the following:

    • Standard Price: € 100 (From September 1 to February 20, 2022) per brand per award category
    • For any additional brand the cost is € 75 for any of the six (4) categories of the Awards.

    Any amendments to the registration deadlines will be informed to clients via email.

      • Registering to the competition via the Online Registration System ORS form the payment must be made at the same time as filling the online application via a secure online payment system. 
      • Making the registration via the fillable application form, the payment must be made within five (5) working days after the submission of the application. If the payment has not been made in the set time limit the product will automatically be excluded from the judging list.
  • The results will be published on the and will also be shared to affiliate media partners.

      • The Mediterranean Taste Awards stickers will be available for purchase on April 2023.  The stickers will have an effect for two (2) years and will be strictly for the product which has received the award. After the end of that period, the producer should re-apply and compete in Mediterranean  Taste Awards competition in order to maintain its status. The producers of the awarded brands can request and receive the stickers at any time during the two (2) years period.
      • For the winners who are interested to purchase our trophy and stickers, information for the order will be available on April, 2023.

Any Food & Beverage is qualified to participate in this session.

#2 Excellent Taste Organic Awards

Only Food & Beverage from organic farming are qualified to participate in this session.

#3 Innovation Awards

For the Innovation food & beverage Awards, we examine the final product according to the five (5) general consumer expectations: Pleasure, health, convenience, physical, and ethics.

Also, drivers of innovation can be divided into 5 trends.

Pleasure:  Sophistication, Fun, Variety of senses, pleasure, Exoticism

Health: Vegetal, Natural, Medical

Physical: Energy well-being, Slimness

Ethics: Solidarity, Ecology

Convenience: Time-saving, Easy to handle, Nomadism

#4 Packaging & Design Awards

In an economy driven by consumers, the traditional viewpoint of packaging is not effective either for the consumer or the business. Instead of focusing heavily on production only, effective packaging should be considered from the following three viewpoints:

1.Viability, i.e. maintainable and enabling brand development
2.Feasibility, i.e. practical and realizable
3.Desirability, i.e. enticing to consumers.

For the Design & Packaging Olive Oil Awards we examine the following :

Brand Identification, Shelf impact, Messaging Communication, Aestheric Appeal, Graphic Elements, Placement, Logo, Legibility, Readability, Brand Perception, Product Perception, Confusions, Misidentifications, Impact of Color, Flow of Innovation, Comprehension, Brand Recall

The public vote counts 30% of the overall score of the Design & Packaging Award. 70% of the overall score is becoming from the Panel Leaders of the Packaging & Design Competition.

What is the Fee of registration

What is the fee for registering for the competition 

The entry fees to the competition are the followings :

Second Period (June 15-17)

  • Standard Price: € 90 (From February 23th to June 08, 2021) per brand per award category

Note: For any additional product the cost is € 60  for any of the five (5) categories of the Awards.
